In Tribute to

The Veterans, Administrators, and Caregivers
of the Mountain Home - James H. Quillen VA
Center - 1903-2003

From September 26 through October 10, 2003. the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Center in Johnson City, Tennessee celebrated the 100 year anniversary of its founding. This VA Center is a beautiful historic campus that originally was a site for the Mountain Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers. Many original features of the National Soldiers Home are still evident and this website features photos and postcards from the 1903 - 1910 period. The Centennial Celebration calendar included guided tours of the facilities and National Cemetery, a Civil War Reenactment, parades, and numerous other events. The National Soldiers Home campus has been carefully restored and includes the Quillen College of Medicine at ETSU in addtion to the Veterans Affairs facilities. In September 2007 a Tennessee Historical Commission historic marker was placed at Mountain Home recognizing the National Soldiers Home.
